H.E. Metropolitan Nicolae visits two parishes in California
The feast of Epiphany was cause for great joy for the Romanian Orthodox faithful in California. H.E. Metropolitan Nicolae visited two of the Romanian parishes on the occasion of this great feast. On Friday, January 6, Metropolitan Nicolae served the Divine Liturgy and the great blessing of the water at the Elevation of the Holy Cross parish in Upland, CA. The parish priest Fr. Archim. Nicodim Bibarţ, Fr. Dean Mihai Cărpenişeanu, and Deacon Valentin Despoiu served along with H.E. Nicolae. At the time of sermon, Metropolitan Nicolae spoke about the significance of the Lord's Baptism as fulfillment of the revelation of our Lord at the Nativity. H.E. Nicolae also preached on the meaning of God's descent on earth to renew man and all creation. The next day, on the feast of St. John the Baptist, Metropolitan Nicolae was at the same parish.
On Sunday, January 8, H.E. Nicolae served the Divine Liturgy at the Ss. Archangels parish in Torrance, CA together with the parish priest, Fr. Mihai Cărpenişeanu. Sunday's Gospel was a good opportunity for reflection on the new and wonderful reality brought by Christ: the Kingdom of God. Metropolitan Nicolae urged the faithful to the understanding of our Savior's call to enter into the Kingdom of God through repentance. This is a useful urge at the beginning of the year when every Christian makes his plans for himself and family. The agape meal concluded this day of celebration.
