A.R.O.L.A. has a new status and organizational structure
Between July 1- 4, 2010 the third AROLA - The Association of Romanian Orthodox Ladies Auxiliaries Conference was held in Chicago, IL. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ladies Committees from the U.S. and Canada parishes. They approved the final version of the Association Statutes (Romanian and English), and also the budget and activities program (Romanian and English) for 2010-2012.
An important moment was the 2008-2010 highly analytical and constructive activity report presented by the President of the organization, Ms. Theodora Miller. Here you can find the full text in both Romanian and English.
As part of the 77th Congress of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese in the Americas, the meeting was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae. In his address, His Eminence Nicolae thanked the participants for coming and stated that he enjoys the AROLA significant progress over the past two years. His eminence mentioned: "I am glad that I could attend this meeting and to see that women in our church understand that they must exceed the kitchen lady role. I think the highest priority identified in the 2010-2012 program, namely to create a communication network, will lead to a better relationship between the parish ladies committees. "
Unlike the old structure, the new AROLA steering committee includes five regional offices: Presbytera. Luiza Rusu - Central U.S.A., Ecaterina Chirică - Western U.S.A., Geta Alexandru - Eastern U.S.A. Presbytera Mihaela Tapuc - Eastern Canada and Presbytera Ligia Dragomir - Western Canada. Unanimously were elected the responsible for the other executive positions: President - Mrs. Theodora Miller, Vice-President - Presbytera Mihaela Tapuc, Secretary - Mrs. Gabriela Covaci, Treasurer - Mrs. Romaniţa Fucă, spiritual advisors - Rev. The AROLA president, Ms. Theodora Miller underlined in the conclusion of the conference "The role of the Christian women in this century is not easy, but with a good organization and communication we hope to actively contribute in all our parishes to keep the Orthodox-Christian values and the Romanian traditions."
