St. George’s Scholarship Program
St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral is preparing to offer scholarships to students in the Windsor Area who are of Romanian ancestry. Last year at the Cathedral’s 95th Anniversary Banquet, Archbishop Nicolae helped us recognize two recipients.
The first, Bianca Demian, was born in Cluj-Napoca and came to Canada with her family when she was 5 years of age. She achieved high academic grades in secondary school and has participated in the Sunday School program at St. George’s. She was also active with the Romanian Dance Group and the Carousel of the Nations. Bianca is attending York University in Toronto where she is studying Law and Society.
The second recipient, Iulia Colisnic, was born in Arad and came to Canada in early 2014 to finish her last 3 months of secondary school. While in high school in Romania, Iulia volunteered to work with special needs children and to assist in a Green Project to make her city a cleaner and more beautiful place. Iulia is attending St. Clair College and next would like to study at the University of Windsor in the areas of Criminology and Sociology.
We wish both students success in their future endeavors. This is the second year that St. George’s is sponsoring this scholarship program and our appreciation is extended to Fr. Sandulescu, the Church Council, and all those who support us.
