The election of the Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chişinău
During the Holy Synod’s work session, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, Archimandrite Antonie Telembici was elected Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chişinău, which is part of the Metropolis of Basarabia.
“We ask God to grant you support in the new mission you commence as Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chişinău. The Holy Synod appreciates your vast activity up to today, as well as your theological grounding. We are hopeful that you will be of great help to His Eminence Metropolitan Petru, who recommended you and who, for a very long time, has observed your activity and piety and missionary potential, especially when it comes to church magazines and media. We pray to our Lord to grant you health and help and, moreover, you have the beautiful name of St. Anthony the Great, who intercedes for us monastics in Heaven. At the same time, you have developed a needed activity there, you know very well the situation of the Metropolis of Basarabia, which is often confronted with obstacles in its missionary work, but which also benefits from many of the theologians that have studied in Romania and who offer great hope when it comes to the missionary, pastoral and cultural work of the Metropolis of Basarabia,” stated His Beatitude, according to TRINITAS TV.
The newly elected hierarch will bear the title “Orheianul.” “It is indeed a great responsibility, which we will endeavor to fulfill with the help of His Eminence. I am aware of the situation there, of the obstacles that might occur. What we have today in the Republic of Moldova is not an easy task, but with God’s help we can accomplish the mission we were called for,” affirmed Archimandrite Antonie Telembici, elected Bishop Vicar of the Archdiocese of Chişinău, speaking to TRINITAS TV.
